Republic Solar Highways LLC, is part of the Republic Family of Companies with its affiliates Republic Land Development LLC, Republic Urban Properties LLC and Republic Properties Corporation. Republic Solar Highways is a start-up enterprise focused on developing commercial photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems on infill, remnant government owned properties. Specifically the PV generation systems will be located within State, County and City owned roadway systems. The power generated from these systems will be sold to a local Investor Owned Utility (IOU) through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Our pilot project is a 15 Megawatt (MW) commercial system in Santa Clara County, California, and is the first phase of a larger effort to create solar projects thoughout the State. Republic has an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for over 65 acres within their state freeway system. We gained site control of these properties in mid 2010 and have started the environmental process. We are also in the process of applying for a PPA from Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), the local IOU. We plan to begin construction in September 2011 and be fully operational by early 2012. After completing our pilot project, we will plan to develop similar projects throughout the state of California and across the county.
